Are You Afraid of MLM Success?

Success is a journey. And many times, not an easy one. Every business has its obstacles that must be dealt with on a daily basis. However, in network marketing, the biggest obstacle seems to be our minds. What do we do to sabotage our success?

Go to a business seminar on success. You will find speaker after speaker talking about positive mental attitude. I know, it is an overused expression. However, it is based in truth. Think about your self talk. What are you telling yourself daily? Are you building yourself up or tearing yourself down?

Does this sound familiar? I can't do that? You expect me to do what! My friends will never go for that. I don't like speaking in groups. Why is he so successful? He doesn't look like much to me.

All of these comments that you make to yourself are chipping away at your attitude and expectations for your business. In one seminar I attended the speaker said the following "fake it until you make it".

I thought about that for awhile. I finally understood that the speaker did not mean to lie to myself, which by the way, was my first thought. See how you can trip yourself up with stinkin thinkin! No, what he meant was act the part. If you expect people to respect you, go to a business meeting with a nice suit on and an attitude of positive expectation. With that persona you will exude success and actually give yourself a better chance of a favorable outcome.

Speaking of outcomes... Someone much smarter than me once said "you are responsible for your actions, not the outcome of those actions." What a gem! If you can buy into this expression you will be on your way to success in everything you attempt. Prepare, do everything you can to give yourself the best chance for success, and then let it fly. The results are nothing more than a report card. Utilize the information that this report card gives you to hone your skills. Don't get down on yourself for negative outcomes. Learn from them and you will find your end results becoming better and better.

Don't be afraid to learn new skills, new systems, and new techniques to build your business. Just because your upline builds their business a certain way does not mean you have to do it the same way. Chances are you won't build the business you want utilizing the techniques of someone else because those techniques might not fit your personality and skill set. So experiment. If you are like me once you find the technique and system that fits, you will end up having fun while building your business to the level you desire.
